National Singup Day is on Wednesday!

We will be busy in singing in 2P this week!
The children are trying to complete singing challenges, they are awarded a star as a class, depending on what they do.
Can they do any at home?
National Sing Up Day Challenges- Start now!
1 Star Challenges
·         Sing a song whenever you need a brain-break
·         Do a vocal warm-up before class from our Song Bank
·         Get a star for every song you can sing without the words
·         Share your Sing Up magazines with another member of staff
·         Sing a song in a round
·         Use your Sing Up stop sign – and if you don’t have one, make one! You can also order one here
·         Sing The tidying up song when you’ve made a mess!
·         Play a singing clapping game
·         Sing a chant
·         Discuss your favourite pop songs and singers



5 Star Challenges
·         Take it in turns to try some conducting
·         Try out beatboxing
·         Choreograph some movement to your song
·         Sing a song to a dinner lady
·         Spend your break-time or lunchtime playing singing games
·         Sing a song in another language. If you can translate it, get 5 more stars!
·         Sing a hello and goodbye song at the beginning and end of the day
·         Upload your event onto our National Sing Up Day map, if you haven’t already
·         Sing a song about mathematics or appropriate to another non-music lesson
·         Listen to your school choir perform 






10 Star challenges
Hold a performance by your staff choir
·         Have a singing contest
·         Get a teacher who doesn’t usually lead singing to lead a song with the class
·         Get a member of staff who plays an instrument to accompany a song
·         Appoint new Young Singing Leaders for today only, and get them to lead singing across the school
·         Have a song that you have to sing on every hour, no matter what you’re doing!
·         Write new words to an old song
·         Choose a song you love and discuss what makes it your favourite
·         Write a rap about National Sing Up Day
·         Sing a song with harmonies 

20 Star Challenges
Choose an era – like the Victorian times – and learn songs that were written during that period
·         Record a song and get it played on your local radio station
·         Find a bandstand, pavilion or gazebo and give a performance to passers by
·         Invite guests from another school, or visit another school and have a joined-up singing celebration!
·         Write an alternative anthem for your school
·         Find out what parents’ favourite songs are, learn them, and perform them to the parents at an end of school assembly
·         Get your dinner ladies to teach you a song
·         Go on a singing walk around your community
·         Stage a ‘Flash Mob Sing’ in your playground

·         Have a Sing Up Session at your next staff meeting
