Welcome to the world of 2P! On our busy blog you can find out about what we are learning in class, discussions we have been having and other fun that we have. Share with friends and family and enjoy with your children. They might be able to tell you a bit more about the posts as well as all of the other fun we have been having at school!

Poetry review
Already this morning we have dived deep into a world of poetry! 2p enjoyed taking a poetry quiz, turns out, the class are experts! The class spent some time exploring a range of poetry from a range of lovely poetry books we have here at school. The children then chose their two favourite poems and filled in the review sheet below:

Cracking coordinates!
2p have been introduced to coordinates today. We have so far been reading coordinates of different charts and will progress to plotting our own.
If the children could explore some maps over the weekend or find some examples of coordinates in everyday life, it will help make our current maths focus more real! As you have seen from the fruit kebab business idea they really get into topics they can relate to! Below is an example of something we did today. I will send home an extra activity this evening if children would like to have a go at it and bring it back in tomorrow!

Explore, explore, explore...
As we continue to build on our number skills, we enjoyed investigating number bonds today. We started with the bonds we know well including, bonds to 10, 20 and 100. Then the children wanted to investigate their own bonds, including 30 and 1000. They could continue this at home. They should be really confident with recalling their number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 (e.g 30+100) and be able to use their number bonds to 10 to calculate quickly, mentally, what the bond to 36 might be, to get to 100.
Wonderful writing!
This morning we have been busy descriptive writing! We enjoyed watching a dive video and wrote as many interesting adjectives on our white boards as possible. The children came up with some very impressive words! We have been choosing a particular species to write our best descriptions about, for example:
'The colossal humpback whale comes closer slowly moving its huge flippers towards my neck, it's looking for thousands of tiny krill to feast on'
By Pallas
In the process, we have been learning some very interesting facts about sea creatures. The children are now very good at recongnising onomatopoeia and alliteration, as well as being very confident using adverbs to make their verbs more interesting!

The Magic Box and writing
We have had a busy week of learning as usual! Yesterday the children had a chance to explore the poem, 'The Magic Box' by Kit Wright and enjoyed working as with members of 2W to develop a performance.
Next week we will be focussing on writing and are preparing to write a descriptive piece about what a deep sea diver might see on a tropical dive. Children could have a go at home and practise using punctuation, adverbs for description and exciting adjectives!

Delightful Dancing!
Super show and tells!
Last week Michael told the class about a book he has been writing, one that he has clearly worked hard on. Rory also brought his rabbit, Woffles in on Friday! Both spoke very well and answered some interesting questions from the class.
