Anyone for tea?

Jasmine, Sophie and Lucas have been role playing in the 'Tea Shop' in golden time today.  Lots of opportunities for writing and number work while they play..  for example: writing down orders and giving change!

Number of the day!

 Here is Prarthana with her 'number of the day' investigation.  Just a little brain teaser to start us off this morning!  We used the image below to inspire our investigations.  Have a go at home, this activity can be easily differentiated to suit your child's learning needs!  Stickers for any investigations completed at home...

Artist of the Week!

Oscar has been awarded the first 'Artist of the Week' award in our infant school.  The Artist of the week will have their work displayed in the Infant Library.

Show and tell today!

We were all excited by Thomas' show and tell today- Thomas and his dad made some amazing apple products at home! We were all fooled!  Thomas already has a long order list from the class!

I have sent some of the children's Ganesh drawings in the newsletter, but they are too good not to share more of them.

Capital letters!

This week we have been paying particular attention to the appropriate use of the capital letter.  They do sometimes appear randomly in the children's writing, so we need to help them to understand why and when to use a capital.

We also discussed our letter formation and compared the capital and lower case versions of letters.  An interesting discussion took place and the children practised their letter formation.

Some of our current Infant pupils, alongside the Year 7 children who started with Mr Whitehead and Mrs Edwards in 2010!  How the school has grown from having 11 pupils!  

The power of a picture...

I had such big plans for the second post to this blog, pictures of our 5th birthday and pieces of 2P's art work, videos, Year 2 even wrote a song on Tuesday and I hope to try and share that with you!  However, there are errors flashing up and screens freezing, so this is by no means as straight forward as I had anticipated!  I will definitely not be giving up though!

Welcome to 2P's blog, where I hope to share regular updates about what we have been doing in our classroom and beyond.

My aim is to provide you with details about the children's learning in bite size portions!  I hope it would be something you might look at with your child, post comments and generally feel like you have a better picture of life in our very busy classroom.  I myself am rather a novice to 'blogging', so I am looking forward to developing my skills and providing you with some light reading!
